El Mirage, its been around for a while and has had a couple of different owners, so seemed a good place to check out on a sunny Sunday morning.
El Mirage inexplicably reminds me of the Brady Bunch house even though in reality they have nothing in common aside from brown interiors and not one of the staff looks like Alice. I’m pretty sure she would not approve of full sleeve tattoos even if she was having an illicit relationship with a butcher to get discount meat.
In reality El Mirage has a wood paneled roof with green bench seating complemented by wooden tables and chairs which could be straight from your local scout hall.
Enough about that and more about the food. Jocasta is on a high protein, low carb kick and chooses the ’Poached Eggs with Salmon and Avocado’. Beautifully presented the salmon was smoked extremely well and the eggs were perfectly poached.
I had the ‘Slim Jim – Poached Eggs, Ricotta, Chutney and Avocado’. It was simple and it was yummy. A bit like El Mirage itself, the setup is simple, the staff are nice and the menu has solid fare which is perfectly cooked.
Not much more you can ask for on a Sunday morning really.
And, do we want to stay for breakfast? Would definitely stop by when next we are in Brunswick East
