Little Henri on Urbanspoon

Little Henri is one of the many places in the Thornbury/Preston area that are popping up about the area making it more of a drawcard on the weekend and no doubt pleasing local residents. Considering the number of places in the immediate vicinity, the fact that it was absolutely packed early on a Saturday was a very good sign.

Let me word you up now: Little Henri is cash only, so make sure you have your cash or the ability to funds transfer.

This morning I met Blue Eyes and in preparation for the marathon training she was planning to do later that day she decided that she had to have the fat chips. As breakfast is a no judgement space I fully supported her in her choice. The delicious chips were served alongside a scrumptious looking baguette with pork belly, fennel slaw and kewpie. I’m not a huge fan of fennel but the sight of that pork belly nearly had me taking one home for lunch. And according to Blue Eyes, it was good.

As for my breakfast, well I was taunted by Little Henri’s menu. You see you can get haloumi as part of another meal but when I asked for it as a side I was told you cannot order it as a side as they only have enough to shave over the top of the other meal…

Say what??? Can’t they pick up more to offer as a side?  Are they doing this to taunt me because it is my favourite side with breakfast? Am I being paranoid or is this an haloumi conspiracy?

Despite my pleas I got no haloumi (sad face). However what I did get was pretty brilliant so I really can’t complain.

Having the poached eggs with avocado and bacon on toast was a great choice with nicely poached eggs and bacon that nice and crispy. The avocado with lemon was perfect and added a nice freshness.

To end a quick note on Little Henri’s courtyard, its a great area done with an Italian villa feel with gravel floor, black umbrellas and hedges around the tables. I really enjoyed it. And the lovely staff helped as move when a table lit up their cigarettes and blew smoke all over our breakfasts (thanks guys)

And, do we want to stay for breakfast? Haloumi or no haloumi I will be back
